Meet the Artist!
Hello! My name is Shay and it’s absolutely lovely to meet you. I am a watercolour artist based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Growing up I lived in St. Albert, a smaller city just on the outskirts of Edmonton, Alberta. My family was always incredibly supportive of my artistic journey, which I am so, so thankful for!
Once I graduated high school, I moved to Vancouver to pursue a degree in 3D modeling and animation. Although I loved the courses I took, I discovered that I would rather pursue a more traditional artistic career. I tried a variety of mediums, including oils, Copic markers, acrylics, ink and wash, and finally digital art before finally falling in love with watercolours. They are finicky, tricky, unpredictable… but there’s just something about them that’s so captivating!!
In 2020 I started focusing a little bit on my Etsy store and got some prints up, which was exciting! In 2021, I started looking into how to create watercolour tutorials and even had a few rough drafts done… but then I got a puppy and it all went out the window! Now that things have settled down again, I want to focus on creating more watercolour art prints, tutorials, and doing a few local markets in 2022. Hope to see you there!
